...To Provoke Church And Military
A 2009 calendar which includes images of gay guys embracing on a church altar wearing only dog collars, the crucifixion of a transsexual and naked men in military scenes, including one gay guy wearing chains in front of an army tank.
The calendar is produced by Albert Marchena, who was headline news in Spain when he married a fellow male military officer, back in 2006, in the country's first same-sex civil ceremony between members of the military.
Marchena believes that none of the 24 images featured in it should be seen as being blasphemous.
"I'm promoting tolerance and equality and this is a way of showing that we can all be united in one place, in this case on the pages of a calendar," Marchena told a Spanish newspaper.
"There are a lot of gays in the military and I'm not afraid to say so even if it means I lose my job over it," he said. "I will continue to fight for equality".
The church, of course, is totally opposed.
