A lavish ceremony opened the XXIX Olympiad of the modern era with thousands of athletes from 202 countries filing into the Beijing National Stadium.

After President Hu Jintao officially declared the Games open more than 10,000 athletes representing countries from around the world accepted to uphold the Olympic oath proclaimed by a Chinese athlete before a crowd of 90,000 spectators.

often lets fly with the "fag" word.

Kayne West has spoken out against homophobes during his show at New York's Madison Square Garden this week. The rapper called upon his gay-hating fans to "open their fucking minds" and stop using the word "fag".

The Stronger singer has always been very outspoken against homophobia and discrimination against gays, and has called upon fellow rappers and artists, such as 50 Cent, to stop using hateful language.

Toronto: Gay Car Wash

Hot guys clad only in their underwear will join Steve Callow, Mr. Steamworks 2008, for his Tighty Whitey Car Wash, in support of the Toronto People With AIDS Foundation (PWA).

The Tighty Whitey Car Wash raised closed to US$10,000.

Doping tira ouro olímpico dos EUA

Finalmente saiu a decisão do COI (Comite Olimpico Internacional) tirando as medalhas da equipe norte-americana que venceu o revezamento 4x400 na Olimpíada de Sydney em 2000.

O COI determinou que as medalhas fossem devolvidas, desclassificando a equipe.

Três dos quatro integrantes que correram a final, testaram positivo para doping. Antonio Pettigrew e também os gêmeos Calvin e Alvin Harrison foram pegos nos exames e sofreram suspensões. Para completar, Jerome Young, que integrou o time em uma prova de classificação, também foi banido por causa de repetidas infrações.

Esse é o quarto ouro olímpico perdido pelo atletismo dos Estados Unidos nos últimos oito meses por causa de doping. Somente a superatleta Marion Jones perdeu três ouros e dois bronzes por usar drogas para melhorar seu desempenho atlético - por causa dela, suas colegas do 4x400 e 4x100 também perdem as medalhas (os times foram desclassificados).

Essa é mais uma demonstração de que o COI pretende atuar firmemente contra a trapaça nos Jogos de Pequim.
